Early in the month of April, 1987, Rick and Bonnie Serfass contacted George and Tanny Rickert and told them of an ad that had been placed by John and Terry Crisman in the Stroudsburg paper. The 3 couples were friends who had met when members of another Corvette Club, which had become more of a social club rather than a club who wanted to part of the NCCC. The Crismans were interested in forming a corvette club in the Stroudsburg area, and had set a time and place so that those who shared this interest may meet. One month later, on a chilly Sunday morning, the three couples waited patiently for other Corvette enthusiasts, none showed. The first club decision was made, they went to the Serfass', where at Rick and Bonnie's kitchen table, with the aid of many cups of coffee and two bottles of sparkly, plans were made and the wheels set in motion to get a club started that would run competition events goverened by the National Council of Corvette Clubs. At this first unofficial meeting the infant club was named and it's colors were chosen. Three names were discussed, but since the Crismans were from Warren County in New Jersey, the Rickerts were from Northampton and the Serfass'were from Monroe, Tri County Vettes was unanimously voted as our club name. Since all six people liked red and black, the two were also chosen unanimously as our club colors. Later in the same month of May 1987, the three couple took there corvettes to the first official display for Tri-County Vettes. Since at this point there was no money in the treasury, Terry graciously hand made the first club banner. This banner was proudly displayed that day and with great enthusiasm the six were able to interest a few more future members. On the first Thursday evening of June 1987, the first official meeting of the Tri-County Vettes was held in the Serfass’ rec room with ten members present. Since that first meeting, Tri County Vettes has grown. The club has been incorporated and all it's members are part of the National Council of Corvette Clubs . Over the years the club has participated not only in National Council events but also in many community affairs.
